The Wait is Over....(almost!)

Finally, the movie I have been waiting for what seems like forever for was released last night at midnight....Sex and the City! Whoo hoo! I cannot wait to see it tomorrow night! I just hope that it is as good as I expect it to be. Everything I have heard from the "true fans"of the show has been fantastic, so hopefully I have not been misled. David and I are going to have a date night tomorrow night and go to an early dinner and then out to see it. CANNOT WAIT! I will definitely post a review later, but I have a feeling that I am going to LOVE it no matter what! :)

LOST

Lost is my favorite show on television right now by far and I've just gotta say that I just LOVE this show! The season finale was aired last night and it definitely did not disappoint, not by any means! SO many questions answered, so many new questions arose and wow, it was just an amazing episode without any dull moments and filled with unbelievable surprises! I was on the edge of my seat the entire show and I have to admit, I bawled my eyes out during at least two scenes. I mean, who didn't get all choked up by the scene where Sawyer whispered into Kate's ear, kissed her and then leaped from the copter giving up his trip back home so selflessly to spare the others...I thought I was about to have a coronary! Then the scene where Desmond and Penny were reunited...AWESOME! I just love them and was so happy that Desmond made it through the crash. Those were just two of the most emotional, but my most favorite scenes from last night episode. I am completely torn up that I will have to go without my Lost for a while, but I know now, that this show just keeps getting better and better! I cannot wait for the next season to start again!

Faith - a poem by Rachel Fogle

Faith is a strength that is so rare, That it's precious when you've got it. Faith is more than most can see for it guides you and will always be beside you. Faith is a dream that can come true, if you believe and wish upon it. Faith is a spirit that seals your soul and keeps you healhly and honest. Faith cannot be given or taken away. For it comes to those who deserve and know. That it's there to those who are gifted enough to see it.

In Honor of Memorial Day...

I saw the most touching story this evening about a Vietnam veteran who is using his amazing talent as an artist to help families honor and remember their loved ones lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. The name of his project is the Fallen Hero Portrait Project and you can read Michael Reagan's story and see the video coverage HERE about how he is honoring fallen soldiers and bringing them home to their families. Michael also has a WEBSITE dedicated to his project as well and you can visit the site to see a gallery of the portraits he has created, read letters from family members and even make donations to help fund this project as well. I was absolutely blown away and incredibly moved after looking at his portrait gallery and from reading some of the heartfelt letters from the fallen soldiers families. It is absolutely amazing the amount of love and hard work he puts into each portrait and the way receiving such a precious gift has affected these families lives.

Weekend Recap

We had a wonderful weekend and although it is coming to an end, I still have one more day of my vacation tomorrow and then it will be back to work for me on Tuesday. David had to go back to work tonight after having nine days off, so I am sure that it will probably be a bit difficult for him to adjust back to his wonky work schedule. He said that he was ready to go back, but that will probably only last a few days, ha! We didn't do a lot today, just mostly stuff around the house, hanging out with Hudson and I worked on design projects for a while today as well. Hudson watched his favorite movie, Cars, two times in a row this afternoon! He's seriously addicted to the movie and would probably watch it over and over again all day long if we would let him, but that's not going to happen! We've also managed to get quite a bit done during our time off while still having some time to relax and have some family time as well. Yesterday we actually went to a birthday party for my cousin Carla's son, Wesley, at a park in Waxahachie. Wesley turned five years old and I cannot believe how fast time goes by and how big he is! Him and his brother, Wyatt, have grown up so fast! Everyone had a wonderful time and Hudson, of course, went crazy running around the park playing, chasing the older boys when they were flying their kites, playing on the playground equipment and just being an all-around hyper little boy! It was very warm and humid, which made it a bit uncomfortable, but at least we were under a covered area and a nice little breeze helped keep us a bit cooler during the majority of the party. Hudson played so hard that he was bright red and sweating like crazy! He had me a little worried that he was overdoing it and was going to get sick or something, but David took him to the car to cool off in the AC for a while when he got really hot and then he seemed to calm down a *little*. In any case, we had a great time at the party and then went by Marcia's afterwards so that we could visit and she could play with Hudson a bit. She just got a brand new air conditioner unit installed, so David also wanted to go check it out and see how much cooler her house was...which is was very cool, I was a bit frigid in fact! After hanging out a while, we headed on home and just lounged around the house for the rest of the day. All-in-all, it was a very nice weekend and we had a lot of fun.

Pinata time!! It took quite a while to get that pinata to bust, but the kids went crazy for the candy when they finally got to it!
Hudson sliding down the slide...he got a little scared and flipped over. You can't tell in the picture, but he was crying. :(
This is what he looked like by the time we left!!! Sweaty, red faced, exhausted and leaving with two large scrape marks on his leg from falling down while he was playing. We've now decided that we will have to get some spray-on Neosporin / Bactaid type stuff and carry it around with us at all times because you never know when you might need it!
Hudson being a typical boy and acting silly by sticking his tongue out! He was trying to eat that Tootsie Roll in the wrapper, too! Ha!

Before I Was A Mom...

One of my good friends sent this to me for Mother's Day and I just LOVE it. I had totally forgotten about it until tonight while sifting through my enormously full inbox and just felt compelled to share because it is so sweet.

"Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.

Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom."

Today's Horoscope

My horoscope today reads as follows..."Others admire you. Let them wonder about your personal life. It's unique enough. Maybe you'll sell the movie rights one of these years."

Keywords - cautious and reserved

Mood - cordial

Ha! Don't know that I could sell the movie rights or not, but I have definitely had a very fulfilling life thus far and yes, it can be very interesting, especially these days....but overall, I love my life and I truly cannot complain at all. Well....I would like more sleep though!!! :)

Change of plans....

So, as I somewhat predicted, there was a slight change of plans and we did not end up going out to the movies tonight for the Indiana Jones premiere. David had quite a horrible headache earlier today and we were both still a bit tired from the past few days, so we decided to veto going out to the movies since neither one of us was feeling completely up to it. Instead, we did venture over to Arlington to go and look at some patio furniture that we were intending on purchasing, but unfortunately the entire collection was out of stock. We did find another set that we really liked, but again, pretty much all of the pieces were out of stock. Hopefully, we can call around tomorrow and see if we can find all of the pieces that we want at another store location or otherwise, it will be back to square one on the patio furniture search! After our unsuccessful furniture run, we popped into Kincaid's Hamburgers and had some yummy burgers for dinner. We've never been to Kincaid's, but I had heard that they have some of the best burgers in town...well, they were good, but in my opinion, they did not even come close to my all time favorite burger joint...Snuffer's!! I still firmly believe that Snuffer's burgers are the best around and they will continue to be the best until I am proven otherwise. Once we finished dinner, we decided to go by Toys R Us and get a gift for a family birthday party that we are attending tomorrow. My cousin, Carla, is having a birthday party for her son and we needed to pick up a little somethin'-somethin' for the birthday boy. Of course, we couldn't make a trip to Toys R Us without picking up a couple of things for Hudson, too! I don't think I've mentioned it before, but Hudson is like seriously addicted to the movie Cars and anything Cars related. He has the movie, several Cars themed toys, Cars books and even a couple of Cars t-shirts...it's not like he has a TON of Cars stuff, but he does LOVE the movie and as a result, we've gotten him a few things over the past year. Well, after torturing him by looking at all of the cool Cars stuff that Toys R Us had to offer, we decided to hold off on any more toys right now, but did get him a little red Car's themed plastic chair that he was completely obsessed with in the store. It's seriously like a cheap $5.00 plastic chair, nothing fancy, but because it has a picture of Lighting McQueen and Mater on it he HAD to have it. Then we also went ahead and bought a large blow-up type swimming pool and figured we would try to take some time over the holiday weekend and let Hudson enjoy one of his other favorite things...anything water related! If how he acts when we take him out of the bath is any indication, then I know that he is NOT going to want to get out of the pool either. In any case, we had a nice evening and now are both just relaxing before we head to bed for the night. David did happen to mention to me earlier this evening, that since we didn't go to the movies and to the dinner I wanted tonight that we would plan on going next Saturday and go see Sex and the City instead, yippee!!! Hopefully, he will keep his word and we won't be sidetracked by anything else next weekend. :)

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.....

Okay, so David is TOTALLY excited that the new Indiana Jones movie is finally almost here and he cannot wait to see it! I know what you are thinking and yes, before you even ask...I will be so lucky to be going tomorrow evening for opening night to see it on the big screen, but I totally don't mind as I, too have always been a huge Indiana Jones fan and I am sure or at least hopeful that it is not going to disappoint. Although, I am a tad bit concerned about how Harrison Ford is going to look since he is much, much older now and am not real sure of how the movie is going to play out or what the premise will be since it has been so long since the last Indiana Jones installment, but like I said, I am hopeful that it will be just as good as the others that we grew to love so much growing up. Marcia has offered to watch Hudson tomorrow night so that we could have a date night, so we are going to go to dinner first and have some yummy mexican food before heading out to the theater. I just hope that it isn't too, too crowded or sold out as I haven't been to the movies in FOREVER and am actually looking forward to it. Besides that, I need for us to be able to see it so that I can have leverage against David to make sure that he doesn't back out of going to see the Sex and the City movie release next weekend, ha! I will definitely post a review later in the weekend if our plans don't magically change. ;)

Crazy Week!

It has been one crazy week already and I am absolutely exhausted and need some good sleep like you would never believe!! I apologize for my lack of posting, but I have been otherwise preoccupied with my non-official wedding planning duties. :) Lots and lots and lots going on....more than you probably want or need to know, but just not enough time to do it all! Don't fret....I promise that I will be getting back on track and will post some proper updates soon. :)

Garage Makeover

Finally, David made some time this weekend to clean, organize and revitalize our dirty, dingy, cluttered and downright skeery garage! While I was out yesterday, Hudson went to spend the day at his Nana's house and David took advantage of us both being gone and decided to start this huge project. He took everything out of the garage, power washed the floor, cleaned all of the walls and baseboards, repaired holes in the walls, etc. and then repainted all of the baseboards and painted the walls a lovely light taupe tone. Hudson ended up spending the night with Marcia, so David was able to work on it into the wee hours of the night last night and it definitely paid off because it looks a hundred times better for sure! He hasn't been able to move everything back in yet, but is planning on throwing away a ton of the junk and will also be looking for a new workbench, shelving, etc. in order to be more organized in the future. I will try to post pictures later, but believe me, it is SUCH an improvement! He did a great job and only worked on it most of yesterday and part of today...go David!

Great Friends.....

Sunday, May 18th - Quote of the Day

Girls Day & Night Out!

Yesterday I spent the entire day with my close friend Claudia, our good friend Renee and Claudia's younger sister Maria doing wedding related errands. The day started with a lovely, and incredibly yummy I might add, lunch at Italian Cafe in Las Colinas. We had initially planned on going to Blue Fish, but when I arrived to meet Claudia, Renee and Maria, I realized that they apparently were not open on Saturdays for lunch service. I was on the phone with the girls as I arrived so I let them know the bad news and we dediced at that time to go to Via Real instead since Blue Fish was not open. Well, minutes later we all arrived at our new lunchtime destination only to find out that Via Real was also closed on Saturdays for lunch service. WTH!?!?!?! Since when did no one in Las Colinas need to eat lunch on Saturdays?!?!? After these two lovely detours, we then decided to head on over to the Italian Cafe over on the canal. We were all in agreement that we definitely needed to have a nice lunch before we headed out to take care of the wedding related business for the day and were at this point determined to find a decent place to dine! Seriously, I had never been to Italian Cafe before, but the food is great, it is very inexpensive and goodness, they give you enormous portions! Renee happened to order the Artichoke Salad and a side of soup and when she received it she about died because it was a very LARGE salad along with a GIGANTIC bowl of soup!! She truly thought it was going to be a side salad and a CUP of soup, NOT a freaking TUREEN of soup, ha! In any case, we had a great lunch and a much needed laugh to start the day!

Next we headed to our first official wedding appointment at Bludoor Studios to discuss Claudia's wedding photography needs. We met with Edward Ramirez, who was very nice and extremely laid-back and personable, but was still incredibly knowledgable and professional throughout the consultation. The appointment went very well and Claudia really loved their work and the fact that it looked more contemporary and artistic rather than posed and cheesy. They are definitely an option that she is very interested in right now. We just hope we didn't frighten Edward with our four person entourage and any of the random questions that we might have asked, ha!

After our appointment at Bludoor we headed to the Galleria so that miss Claudia could have her engagement ring cleaned at Tiffany. She decided that while we were there that she would go ahead and puruse their wedding bands as well so that she could let Joe, her fiance, know which one or two most caught her eye. She ended up trying on several rings and found two that she loved, which we all gave our seal of approval on as well. On a different note, I know I just blogged about people watching at QT on Friday, but now I know another GREAT place to people watch for sure....Tiffany of all places! Wow! There truly were some interesting characters there and I would have never thought that it would have been such a goldmine for people watching. You would have had to been there to understand, but I promise, it was very interesting to say the least!

After our adventure at Tiffany, we headed towards David's Bridal over on Arapaho so that Renee could order her bridesmaid gown, but alas, we ran into another detour...David's Bridal was no longer there!!! This was obviously a complete surprise to everyone since Claudia had gotten the location information directly off of their website, but she had also brought along another location's address information so all was not lost. We finally arrived at the location off of Preston near 635 and Renee was able to get fitted and successfully order her gown. It is absolutely gorgeous by the way.....very elegant and classy!

After our long afternoon of running errands, we headed back to the LC and hung out a bit at Claudia's hotel room before heading out for dinner at Blue Fish.....come on, you didn't honestly think we were going to give up on our urge for a tasty Ahi Tower did you??? Yes, my beloved Ahi Tower that I have been craving for almost two years now! YES, you heard me right...TWO YEARS! I hadn't been to Blue Fish since before I was pregnant and had been craving it FOREVER, but David doesn't care for it, so I never get to go. Of course, the food was fab, we had a few drinks and chatted some more over dinner before leaving to spend the rest of the evening at one of our old stomping grounds.....Spirit Grille. :)

What is an Ahi Tower you ask??? It basically consists of tuna tartare in sesame oil layered on snow crab, avocado salad and sushi rice, drizzled with creamy wasabi sauce.

We ended up staying at Spirit Grille for the rest of the evening and had a ton of fun talking, laughing, drinking lots of Michelob Ultra and even saw a few familiar faces while we were there. Here are just a few pics from the end of the evening. :) Tomorrow morning it all starts again with two back to back cake tastings starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by a slew of other appointments throughout the day. So, I guess I will be having cake for breakfast tomorrow, ha!

Oh, some random crew of misfits....I totally forgot to mention it was poker night at Spirit Grille, which also made the evening very interesting as well, ha!
