One Shining Moment - In Honor of David

David loves, loves, loves basketball and ALWAYS watches the Final Four and all of the games leading up to the Final Four every year. Well, of course he watched the game last night, but because he is "shy" and says that he doesn't have the time to blog, I decided that I absolutely must take a moment to commemorate the end of the season by sharing one of his favorite things about the championship game....One Shining Moment! Ha! He loves this song and the whole montage that they put together every year and I just think it's so cute that he's such a "softy" when it comes to this song. I mean, who doesn't like it really??? It's a classic and is unofficially considered by CBS as the anthem for the NCAA tournament coverage. I even feel a little misty eyed when I see the montage every year or if I even hear the first few lines of the song.

RIP - Luther Vandross

Here are the lyrics to the popular anthem:

The ball is tipped
and there you are
you're running for your life
you're a shooting star
And all the years
no one knows
just how hard you worked
but now it shows...
(in) ONE SHINING MOMENT, IT'S ALL ON THE LINE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, THERE FROZEN IN TIME

But time is short
and the road is long
in the blinking of an eye
ah that moment's gone
And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE

Feel the beat of your heart
feel the wind in your face
it's more than a contest
it's more than a race...

And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED FOR THE SKY
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU WERE WILLING TO TRY
ONE SHINING MOMENT....
