One of my favorite "sweet treats."

I recently rediscovered one of my all-time favorite "sweet treats" when shopping for Easter candy for Hudson at Target a couple of weeks ago. After wrestling through all of the swarms of women all vying for the same frilly Easter baskets, chocolate bunnies, Cadbury Creme Eggs and all of the other delicious treats that Easter has to offer, I wandered over to the "normal" candy aisle while I waited for David to come back from the toy section. (He had decided that he MUST go get Hudson some more monster trucks for his Easter basket, the child does not "want for much", but I wouldn't say that we spoil him either, ha!) While perusing the candy aisle, waiting rather patiently I might add, I saw that they had a ton of the boxed candy items on sale. Well, I decided to take a peek at all of the options available and there they were.....my long lost candy love....Sno Caps!!! I had totally forgotten about this delightful treat that I used to savor so long ago...I know that they seem pretty basic and all, no frills ya know, but they are so absolutely delicious! Basically semi-sweet chocolate chips covered in crunchy, sweet white non-pareils, but although they are a classic and very simplistic type of treat, they are just so, so very tasty! To say the least, I bought a box (or two) and have been allowing myself a few as a special treat every couple of days. I am sure that I will have to buy some more soon though because not only are they delicious, they are also quite addictive, so watch out! David even told me I needed to take them to my office and put them in my desk so he wouldn't be tempted to eat them and that's saying a lot from David because he is by NO means a big chocolate fan. In any case, I love them and am glad that we found our way back to one another, ;P

Hudson's First Trip to the Zoo - Part One

We took Hudson for his first trip to the zoo yesterday and we had an awesome day! Hudson LOVED it and seemed to really be interested in seeing all of the different animals on exhibit at the Dallas Zoo. Since we took SO, SO many pictures I am breaking this into more than one post so that it won't be too terribly long. Stay tuned for more pics over the next day or two.

More to come....stay tuned!

Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo.....

We actually spent the entire afternoon today at the Dallas Zoo and we had an absolutely fantastic day! Marcia came along with David, Hudson and myself and we had so much fun seeing all of the animal exhibits and even had enough time to pretty much see everything including spending some time at Stingray Bay petting the stingrays...it was totally cool! In any case, it was a very LONG day and I am quite tuckered out at this point, so I thought I'd share one of my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs "At The Zoo" since it seemed so obviously appropriate and I will share tons and tons of pictures from our fabulous trip to the zoo tomorrow. I hope that everyone else had a wonderful Saturday as well! Goodnight all!

Monkey Business

Check out these adorable monkey placemats that we picked up while doing our weekly shopping trip at Target. You know, Target, the place where no human soul can enter without walking out with a cart full of treasures!! I swear it's like crack or something and seems to get more addictive everytime I enter this fabulous store...you cannot go in for just one thing and you ALWAYS walk out spending at least a hundred dollars or much, much more. In any case, we were strolling through the store when I spotted these precious monkey placemats in the kitchen section and as I saw them I thought "Who the hell puts monkey placemats on their table!" and then I immediately had another stroke of genius for an incredibly fun and cute way to use them instead. So, I flagged down David who was several aisles ahead of me with the basket (he always ends up ahead because I have to stop and look at EVERYTHING!) and had him come back to see the monkeys. I proceeded to tell him how I thought the monkeys would be perfect to create wall-hangings for over the crib in Hudson's bedroom. David loved the idea too and so in the basket the monkey placemats did go! Here is a picture of the monkey placemat that I actually doctored up in Photoshop, but the placemat actually just consists of the center monkey head image in a microfiber type material. We plan on attaching them to a plywood backing, adding a hanging mechanism and then hanging a grouping of them over Hudson's crib. I think it will be supa' cute and will definitely look great with the other decor in his room. I will, of course, post pictures of the finished product later.

Fast as fast can be....

Fast as fast can be...you'll never catch me! That's what Hudson was saying tonight as he taunted Bailey around the house carrying nothing more than one single piece of pasta!!! Hudson has figured out that Bailey loves to eat everyone else's food...well, he has also figured out that Bailey will chase him if he runs around with a piece of the said food in his hand! It was completely hilarious and Hudson totally knew what he was doing. He loves the attention and relates it to a game of sorts I guess. I didn't get any great shots because things were winding down by the time I finally decided to grab the camera, but I did manage to catch of few shots of Hudson torturing our beloved family pet, ha!
See the sneaky sneer on Hudson's cute little mug!

The pasta in question...

Catch me if you can!!!

Wait...why is Hudson chasing Bailey??
Oh, he was nice and finally gave the poor dog the measly piece of penne.

Ha! Ha! What a silly little goofball!
This is just another reason why I love him so much!

"I Saw God Today"

I absolutely LOVE this new song by George Strait! It gets me teary-eyed every time I hear it...

An apple a day....

I have been dying for a Mac laptop or desktop for quite some time now and had actually decided that I would wait a while to buy one since we just had the "laptop disaster of October 2007" and had to replace my old HP laptop with a new and improved HP laptop. Well....David really thinks I need a Mac for all of my design work especially since I have been getting so busy these days and who am I to argue his genius reasoning, right?!?!?! So, I plan on purchasing a brand new Mac here in the next couple of months and was wanting some help in narrowing down my selection.

First off, laptop or desktop??? I really can't decide because there are reasons why I would prefer both. I am leaning towards desktop because we already have a laptop and I really LOVE the way the Mac desktops look. Plus, whenever we eventually move and I have a "real" office I think I would prefer to have a desktop setup with whatever fabulous desk and office furniture pieces I will have for my dream office. :) Although, I also like the portability factor of a laptop, but I cannot imagine that I would actually need to take it out of my office very often. In instances where I do need a laptop I could always use the trusty HP instead.

Secondly, what screen size and capabilities do I need??? Not sure, but I
am in LOVE with the mama-jamma enormous 24" monitor, but David thinks it is just too much. Is it ever too much??? I need a lot of screen space for working on design projects and I think the 24" would be perfect....or maybe it is too gigantic, I don't know, I just cannot decide!

That's why I need some opinions.
Right now, I am leaning towards the Mac desktop with a 20" screen so that it is quite a bit larger than what I currently have with my HP laptop, but not insanely huge (as David would put it) as the 24". I *think* the laptop is going to just be too small for me as the largest screen size they offer is 17". In any case, that is where I need help and I'm counting on you Mac owners for some good advice!!!

Easter 2008

We had an absolutely amazing Easter and had a lot of fun just hanging out and enjoying the holiday at my mom and dad's house. Most of my immediate family was there (although, most of them are apparently camera shy or were just hiding from me and are not in these pictures!!) and Marcia came along as well to see Hudson go on his first "real" Easter egg hunt. I will apologize in advance for the horde of pictures as I am a self-proclaimed "picture addict" of sorts and seriously took over 150 pictures on Easter, ha! I, of course did not post all of them here, but I certainly couldn't pick just a few!! That's one of the main reasons I started our family blog anyways.....after always hearing requests from all of the fam and friends to see pictures of Hudson, etc. I decided that a blog would be a great way to share those pictures, but also document our daily adventures. (or daily doses of boredom depending on the day....) So without further delay....here are the pics! (almost a "collage" of sorts actually)

David playing with our little monkey!
Hudson looking like a cutie as always! :)

My brother noshing on one of the delicious desserts.

Some of the fam hanging out in the living room.

One of my nephews - Matt - he's hiding the eggs and I took the picture from inside the house.
My mom - looks like she is in deep thought or something!
One of my niece's - Cassidy

Hudson cheating and looking out the window as they hide the eggs.
I guess Hudson decided that he needed THREE Easter baskets, lol!
He completely did this on his own by the way....

Hudson finding the first egg of the day!
David and Marcia trying to give Hudson "pointers."
My mom and David rooting him on!!

He was on a serious mission for some eggs, I tell ya!
My brother being his "wing-man."

Eggs around the HUGE tree, one of them anyways, in my parents front yard.
Hudson was becoming a pro at this egg hunting business...

Marcia helping him find even more eggs!
Across the yard they go....

David, Hudson and my niece - Shelby.
A lovely picture of me blowing dandelion seeds....Hudson was somewhat infatuated with these.

Me and my sweetie!
Hudson was searching "high and low" for more eggs....

Full basket...SCORE!!!
Hudson having a break and taking a stroll in the yard!
It was a great Easter!
